As I considered the theme “Live in This Moment, Return to the Origin”, I decided to view the Origin in terms of a “natural” world environment largely unencumbered by socialization – a time before one acquires the skills and habits necessary for participating within his or her own society. !
A movement away from the natural world toward the social world interests me, particularly because everyone’s path is unique. To understand that movement requires insight into how contemporary life has been, and is being, shaped and lived. !
For that insight, I looked metaphorically to changing perceptions of human beauty – from once offering simple, natural world experiences of aesthetic pleasure to spawning social havoc creating dangers, especially about personal identity development. I believe that human beauty is no longer tied to aesthetic satisfactions. Glorifying such beauty has, instead, become a ruse used to pursue, and capture, vulnerable women and children as prey. The desire for beauty now manipulates them as puppets on a stage.!
We arrived at this juncture because we over emphasize physical beauty and present endless parades of fashion models, glorifying them first and, eventually as they age, discarding them. Beauty has indeed become the cruelest of drugs.
